Colourful Summer Wedding at Over Barn

As soon as Gabriella and Dan told me they had chosen the theme from Jurassic Park as their ‘walking down the aisle music’, I knew we were a wedding photography match made in heaven. (and that was before we had the ‘Love theme from Star Wars’ exit!)

As I arrived at Over Barn, the incredible team at Wye Valley Flowers were adding the finishing touches to the barn. The wonderful wedding glam team were in full flow - Make-Up Artist, Sasha Brown was hard at work and Angelica was adding the finishing touches to hair. Gabriella and Dan’s wedding day was filled with personal touches that made it incredibly special to be part of and so important for me to do justice in recording the consideration, care and love that had gone into their choices. The couple married at the beautiful Holy Innocents Church in Highnam before campervanning back to Over Barn for afternoon tea. With a guest list of thirty, the celebrations were so concentrated with love and such joy for the couple, a fair few tears were shed during the speeches before the cake that inspired the whole wedding was cut.

Evening guests were welcomed with the smell of the pizza oven firing up and a glass of bubbles before joining G and D for their first dance, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wedding party so excited to get on the dance floor. As I left the guests to it they were winding down from the dancing and sparkler session (I love sparkers to make the sunset so that the evening guests can feel more involved with a nighttime alternative to throwing confetti.) with fully loaded pizzas and slices of cake. A little shout-out goes to Gabriella’s Mum, Vilma, who ensured I left with a pizza to go and a wonderful slice of the iconic cake to fuel me through my late-night editing ahead.

I loved spending the day photographing this very personal intimate wedding at Over Barn with their wonderful family and friends.
