Rearranging Your Lockdown Wedding (and how I can help!)

The question I’m receiving the most right now is ‘can I postpone my booking with you if my wedding is cancelled due to coronavirus’. The simple answer is ‘yes’ with me, and at no cost to you.

Here I’ll share some of my observations from the last few months and answer some of the most common questions I’m receiving.

How to rearrange my supplier booking with you

I’ve had lots of conversations with my couples over the last few months, and I’ll strive to make my part in your planning as simple as possible. I’ll move the booking free of charge.

Most of the couples I am booked with have simply pushed back their plans and we have new dates in the diary, but the lockdown has made some people think differently. It’s interesting…

Are smaller, more intimate weddings becoming the norm?

I’ve read a lot around the effects of lockdown on people’s lives in the media and one thing it’s done for me is made me think about how I live, and what’s important to me. Above all its my rescue pets of course, but it’s also those closest to me and how we spend time together.

There seems to be some brides and grooms that feel this way too, and while it’s not the norm across the board, some people are deciding to say ‘I do’ differently. For example, one of my couples has decided that rather than have 30 people to a posh hotel reception in Lancashire, they’re going for more of a rustic, autumnal outdoor ceremony on a loch in the Scottish Highlands with just nine guests.

It would be an understatement to say I’m excited about this one, but it’s not just me. They’re actually now much more excited about this set up, are getting more creative with their Pinterest mood board, and it feels even more true to them.

Will more weddings be outdoors?

It’s impossible to say long term, but a good contingency for couples hoping to get married this year in the UK is to try to find a venue that can accommodate an outdoor wedding. The rules are more relaxed around outdoor weddings in Scotland, hence the choice made by the couple I mentioned above.

I love hiking and being outdoors and have been getting creative with some outdoor shoots during lockdown – there’s so much beauty in wild spaces.
